Hilary is a Southern California based photographer, artist, and educator. She graduated from the University of California, San Diego in 2014 with a dual B.A. in Visual Arts-Media and Communications.
Hilary’s work in arts education began as an AmeriCorps service member, and later Program Coordinator and Media Educator, with digital media nonprofit Outside the Lens (OTL) in San Diego, where she taught photography, video, and animation to K-12 students. Her favorite projects include: developing a science & arts integration residency for Title 1 Schools, establishing OTL’s Cameras and Careers media arts mentorship program for teens, and teaching filmmaking abroad with the Mediteran Film Festival School (MFF School), a international film workshop for youth in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Additionally, she has worked as a teaching artist & trainer, and has spoken at arts education conferences & workshops across California. She has taught & contributed to projects with Venice Arts, Inner City Arts, Media Arts Center San Diego, and the High Tech High schools.
Hilary’s work as a photographer and artist are deeply tied to her work as an arts educator. Commercially, she specializes in portraiture, events, and focuses on work with nonprofits and small businesses. Previous clients include: San Diego Diplomacy Council, San Diego Leadership Alliance, Aret Basewear, Outdoor Outreach, I Love a Clean San Diego and Medium Festival of Photography.
She currently serves as the Museum Educator at the Santa Paula Art Museum near her home in Ventura County, CA, and is pursuing her single subject teaching credential in Arts Education.
